I read fantasy and Science Fiction.
My most recent read was First Lord's Fury by Jim Butcher from his Codex Alera. Very good series of books, and they really seem to pile up on each other, getting more and more intense as the story progresses.

Military Science Fiction, mostly stuff in the Warhammer 40k universe, The Ultramarines, Blood Angels, and Soul Drinkers series' are awsome as are the Gaunt's Ghosts books by Dan Abnett. Of course I also like the old school books like Dune and Starship Troopers which are classics. Also anything by John Ringo.
I also read alot of military fiction, Jarhead, Blackhawk Down, Flags of Our Fathers, We Were Soldiers, ect ect. I've been especially interested in the early 90s so Desert Storm and Somalia have taken up a good amount of my book space.

Last book I read was The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. I wikied and found that it was a fusion of gothic fiction, adventure, detective fiction, travelogue, postmodern historical novel, epistolary epic and historical thriller so yeah, anything along those lines. Also a huge fan of Narnia and the Harry Potter series.
And yes, chick lit ![]()

So Narnia makes a good read eh? Would you recommend it then?

Starship Troopers is the only book i've read by Mr. Heinlein but his social commentary and revelations on what future human society would be like are frighteningly accurate. While reading it I couldnt believe how much of the stuff that he mentioned in the book actually came to be true in modern times, even more crazy because the book was written in 1959.

I love and adore fantasy and scifi...
Tamora Pierce I read though her books are a bit younger as I'd prefer to write a novel if I ever pull it off that teens through to adults can enjoy. I also read Mercedez Lackey's Valdemar series for inspiration, Anne McCaffery's Pern (don't like her son's novels on the series quite so much), and MZ Bradley's Darkover series. I also read Terry Pratchett's books and a bunch of other random scifi/fantasy stuff. Though I like Lord of the Ring and similar books I prefer ones that the authors don't seem as fond of being wordy instead of flow, heh.

Bert, if you are into WWII and military history, check out "Thunder Below". If you haven't read it already, its Fing awesome!! Generation Kill is also a really really good one, its Iraq war but still a really really good read. If you do find yourself reading Generation Kill, check out the HBO series as well, both were absolutely phenomenal. Also, All Quiet on the Western Front, is an awesome book from a German soldier's perspective of WWII.
Lets see, as far as what I enjoy reading, I like a lot of stuff. Military History, sci fi, horror, fantasy. Over the past 6 months I have read all 19 novels in the Anita Blake series, cant get enough of em. Dean Koontz Odd Thomas series is really good, I am on book 3 and have had a hard time with it since I find it very sad. I have read just about every Stephen King book, short stories and all. There is a ton more, but my brain is all foggy, its like 6 am and I need to get to bed, damn you PS3.

I just read the newest Chuck Palahniuk book, called Tell All, and I loveeeeeeee it.

ooooh what's the new palahniuk book about? I haven't read anything since Snuff but Invisible Monsters is still a favorite of mine.
Apart from that I just re-read Patrick Rothfuss' Name of the Wind for the third time... its the only fantasy book I've read but its amazing... its the first book in a trilogy and he's been pushing back the release of the second book for years now... tortute.
Anyway, I usually stick to classic/contemporary classic fiction like Kurt Vonnegut... I also have a softspot for the Sherlock Holmes short stories haha

Favorite book of all time is Asimov's Foundation trilogy. No better sci fi ever, IMO. I have a library of maybe 200 sci fi books and still I read that one over and over.
Other recent favorites are Gaiman, Scalzi, Neffeneger (however that's spelled..."Time Traveller's Wife" was the book). Also recently read Issacson's biography of Einstein. Great read.

Moi hate writers of these days... They're making the bookstores like the silver screen's little advertisement shops. Because whenever they write a book, there goes the movie after it.
Anyways, I love reading something about religion and fantasy...

Ejom, I've been really into the Dragon Lance series for a while now...

I stopped reading Anita Blake after the stupid baby-scare fail plot device. Also, what the heck is up with Nathaniel? Somehow, that relationship screams I'm-taking-advantage-of-you. I also hate how she can never get over Richard. I really hope someone just puts him out of his misery.
@shadowmike I love Jim Butcher's series! Got my friend hooked on the first book, Furies of Calderon, recently.
